Ingredients
1/2 cup Bowl & Basket vegetable oil, for frying
2 green plantains, peeled and cut into 1 inch chunks
3 cups cold water
salt to taste
pepper to taste
Directions

1. Heat oil in a large skillet. Carefully place the plantains in the oil and fry about 3 minutes per side (6 min total)

 

2. Remove from oil and flatten the plantain with a tostonera or by pressing down on the plantain with a small plate. Be careful they will still be warm!

 

3. Dip the flattened plantains in water, then carefully return them to the skillet with the hot oil and fry for an additional minute per side (2 min total).

 

4. Remove with a slotted spoon, season with salt and pepper and serve immediately!
