Chocolate Sweetheart Cakes for Two

Ingredients
3/4 cup all-purpose flour
1/4 cup granulated sugar
1/4 cup light brown sugar packed
4 tbs HERSHEY'S Cocoa
1/2 tsp baking soda
1/8 tsp salt
1/2 cup water
3 tbs vegetable oil
1/2 tsp white vinegar
1/2 tsp vanilla extract ( plus 1/8 tsp for Chocolate Frosting )
1 tbs butter or margarine
2/3 cup powdered sugar
2 to 3 teaspoons milk
Directions

1. Heat oven to 350°F. Grease and flour 8-inch square baking pan.

 

2. Stir together flour, granulated sugar, brown sugar, cocoa, baking soda, and salt in a medium bowl. Add water, oil, vinegar, and vanilla; beat with a whisk or spoon until smooth. Pour batter into prepared pan.

 

3. Bake for 18 to 20 minutes or until the wooden pick inserted in the center comes out clean. Cool for 10 minutes; remove from pan to wire rack. Cool completely.

 

4. Transfer to cutting board. Using 3-1/4 inch heart-shaped cookie cutter, cut cake into 4 hearts.

 

5. Prepare CHOCOLATE FROSTING: Place 1 tbs of butter or margarine in a small microwave-safe bowl. Microwave at MEDIUM (50%) for 20 seconds or until butter is melted. Stir together 2/3 cup of powdered sugar and 1 tbsp of cocoa; add to butter mixture alternately with 2-3 tsp milk, beating with a spoon or whisk until smooth. Stir in 1/8 tsp vanilla. Makes about 1/3 cup frosting.

 

6. Spread CHOCOLATE FROSTING over the tops of two hearts. Place the remaining two hearts on top. Garnish as desired. 2 small cakes.
